Dear Aurora Chamber of Commerce members,

It’s one of the busiest times of the year for most businesses. As the year comes to an end, companies start to prepare their year-end paperwork and embrace the holiday season sales rush.

The 2017 Budget process is almost complete. Both capital and operating budgets are reviewed and approved by Council. The capital budget was approved at just over $18 Million. The operating budget goes to Council for approval at the next budget meeting on Tuesday, December 13 at 7 p.m. at Aurora Town Hall, Council Chambers. Stay tuned for updates and information about the final budget approval, visit the Town’s website
aurora.ca/budget2017 or our social media feeds.

Recently, Council approved an agreement with Bell to install its new small cell technology in the community. Aurora is the first municipality in York Region to participate in this innovative program. This project places small cell antenna systems in select areas to improve mobile data coverage
without the need for a traditional cellular tower.

Aurora is taking a leadership role by embracing new technology that will enhance high-speed wireless broadband service for residents and businesses. The Town is currently underway with small cell installation in 10 various locations in Aurora including Town Hall and the downtown core.

Are you struggling to keep up with wireless connectivity demands? Local businesses can also participate in this new venture too. If you are interested in having this technology installed at your business location, please contact the Town’s economic development division and we can connect
you with representatives from Bell.

This initiative is a great way to provide your business and customers with increased mobile connectivity while ensuring you can meet business
demands and provide reliable service. Please email ecdev@aurora.ca for more information. Your opinion matters. I encourage you to reach out to the
Town to ask for help or guidance with your business needs. We have many resources available to help foster new and existing businesses.

If you have a suggestion on how the Town can continue to or enhance its support for local businesses, please send me an email anytime at mayor@aurora.ca or call my office at 905-726-4741.

During this holiday season, I would like to extend warm wishes to you and all of your families. May 2017 be a prosperous and successful year for all our businesses in Aurora!
