(Highlights of the Aurora Town Council meeting, Tuesday November 10, 2015)
McMahon Park Neighbourhood Garden to find a new location
Aurora Town Council approved a recommendation from the General Committee meeting on Tuesday, November 3 to pursue an alternative location for a neighbourhood garden. There was a high response rate of residents in the McMahon Park area who participated in the public consultation process to decide whether or not to develop a neighbourhood garden. Most residents were not in favour of the proposal and garden location.
Staff will be pursing an alternative location for a neighbourhood garden and will report back to Council.
Pedestrian Underpass at Leslie Street and St. John’s Sideroad
Aurora Town Council approved a report to construct two trail crossings in accordance with the Town’s Trails Master Plan.
The Trails Master Plan was approved by Council on October 25, 2011. This document identified a number of grade separated trail crossings within the municipality. These underpasses are a safer, preferred method of crossing busy roads and traffic.
Staff has been directed to enter into agreement with The Regional Municipality of York to facilitate the process of construction of the two underpasses, the financial arrangements and any matters related to the future maintenance and operation of the underpasses.
