(as published in the October 2015 edition of snapd Aurora)

It is hard to believe that September is already behind us, but it was a phenomenal month in Aurora as we celebrated some great events. Movies in the Park was a resounding success once again, and it was nice to see so many families at this wonderful family-friendly venue.

I would like to thank the organizers of the Summer Blues Fest celebration which took place on September 5, featuring headline act Jack de Keyzer. Music was pervasive in Aurora throughout July and August, with an outstanding line-up of talented artists, showcased every Wednesday at our popular Concerts in the Park series.

We celebrated the milestone reign of Queen Elizabeth II on September 9, with a flag-raising ceremony in Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Park and tea at the Aurora Seniors’ Centre, and we enjoyed three days of non-stop entertainment from September 11 to 13, with the 10th anniversary of Aurora Ribfest. Ribfest is a signature event in our community, and it seems to get better and better every year!

As we move into the autumn months, there are many other activities and events taking place in Aurora. Our popular Haunted Forest event takes place once again at Sheppard’s Bush on October 24 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. There are spooky trails for the timid or adventurous!
